What are the chances of seeing a lion on safari?

It all depends. If your safari itinerary includes only Arusha National Park and Lake Manyara, the chances are quite slim. If you are visiting Ngorongoro Crater or Serengeti, they're quite high.

If you have any animals that your REALLY want to see while in Tanzania, be sure to tell us while we're organizing your trip so we can adjust accordingly. Also, always keep in mind that that these are wild animals so there are never any guarantees.

Can I bring a drone?

No. Drones are not allowed in Tanzania. The exception is a professional license that could be granted to those producing high level nature documentaries.

What airport do we fly in to?

Most customers fly in to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) where we will be waiting to provide you with an included airport transfer. JRO is about an hour from Arusha where most guests will spend their first night.

However, customers can also fly to Arusha Airport (ARK) or directly to the Central Serengeti at Seronera Airstrip (SEU).

If you would like to fly directly to Seronera, please notify us and we can help arrange your flight. Please note for direct flights to Seronera there are stricter luggage weight limits due to the size of the planes.

What are the COVID restrictions and requirements for entering Tanzania?

As of February 16th 2022, Tanzania requires a negative PCR COVID test within 96 of departure, and a negative rapid test on arrival in Tanzania, and completion of an online health surveillance form within 24 hours of your departure found here: https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz/. Arrival tests cost $10/traveler and are not included in your quote

Returning from Tanzania to the United States requires a negative PCR or Antigen test within 24 hours of your departing flight regardless of vaccination status.

Can we customize our trip?

Absolutely!

Is there a minimum age?

While Tohe does not have an age restriction, some parks and lodges within Tanzania DO restrict children of a certain age. If you would like to travel with a child around 6 or younger please let us know so we can help you plan accordingly.

Are safaris safe?

Yes! You will be accompanied by a professional guide at all times. Animals are not always predictable, but our guides have years of training and experience in spotting any signs of agitation or aggression.

Additionally, Tanzania as a country is politically stable and has levels of violent crime on par with that of the United States. Given that you will be with a local guide and never in unsafe areas, you will be very safe while in Tanzania.

Is a deposit required to secure your trip?

Yes. We must place deposits to secure your accommodation for your trip and therefore require a non-refundable deposit of 20%. Should you require a reschedule, we will help coordinate that with the lodges that your accommodation deposits have been paid for. Please note though that pricing is seasonal, so rates may change depending on your rescheduled date.
